Welcome to the
Spotsylvania County Republican Committee website!
We are excited by your
interest, and that of so many other Spotsylvanians who are
committed, as we are, to common-sense conservative government.
If you are finding your voice in politics and want to join us in
electing honest, competent, conservative public servants that
you can be proud of- and most importantly, that you can trust-
email us or come to our next monthly meeting.
You needn't be a die-hard
politico, or even be a member to be involved. If you share our
passion for limited, competent government, we want to hear from
you!
Cheers,
Steven Thomas
Chairman
Spotsylvania County Republican Committee

You missed it! The Spotsy GOP and the
SRWC held our first, joint, family-friendly fundraiser
on August 21. We modified our original idea slightly, in
a nod to the August Virginia heat, from a daytime fair
to an evening ice cream social. We had
huge ice cream sundaes,
Italian ices, pony rides, live music, cake, auction
items and a lot of fun!
As a
friendly reminder, not all political monthly meetings
are
held in a structured
manner. As often as possible, we members gather in
informal settings to enjoy fellowship. Yes, we still
strategize and plan too, but it's a lot more enjoyable
with an ice cream in your hand! This is one example that
sets us apart from other political organizations and why
we are enjoying dozens of first-time attendees every
month! The Spotsylvania GOP is indeed enjoying a
windfall of enthusiasm and energy from its new members,
and we aim to keep up the momentum!

The
weather was perfect and the location was great!
Hosted by Debbie and Al Curcie at their farm, not far
from the courthouse— a great time was had by all! Be
sure to make the next event if you missed this one.
July 3,2010:

What a successful day we enjoyed at the
annual Stars and Stripes Spectacular event at the county
courthouse. Tens of thousands of our neighbors gathered for
free family entertainment and fireworks. Our booth was
another great success as we met and spoke with hundreds of
people about the direction of our country and Spotsylvania
County. So many folks signed up to get information that we
nearly ran out of paper!
Thank you to all who volunteered their time to help man the booth
and hand out "Less Government, More Freedom!" stickers and
candidate information to the families we love to serve. We
know we make a difference in the community when we work at
events like this, and this year was one to be particularly
proud of.
Thanks also to Congressman
Rob Wittman who spent several hours with us speaking
with constituents and meeting supporters of his campaign. He
continues to be the most accessible and responsive
representative that this area has ever known! One
thing we kept hearing from people was that the Congressman
always makes the time to return phone calls and emails to
anyone who has a question, and we're proud to have him as
one of our county's U.S. congressman. Please remember
that Congressman Rob Wittman and Congressman Eric Cantor
need our votes this November for their re-election. Both
have opponents in their races.
Also, please come to a committee meeting and get your official
Spotsy GOP bumper stickers! We have an oval and a
rectangular one to choose from.
April.
20, 2010:
We're pleased to announce a
successful migration of our old blog files over to the new
Google server as mandated by their service agreement. Please
adjust your hyperlinks, blogrolls and Feedburner readers for
the On The Spot Blog to reflect the new address:

The Feed is now found at:

Attention
Spotsylvanians:
You're invited! The
2010 SRC meetings will be held at the Salem Church Library
on Salem Church Road
(aka Leavells Road to the south) and no longer at the
Harrison Road Community Center, unless otherwise announced
in advance via this web site (such as special elections,
canvasses, primaries, etc,) or an official meeting call to
members.
The
public is always invited to attend our meetings and get to
know us. Then, we encourage you to get involved in the
many community-strengthening projects that the local Republican committee
engages in throughout
every year.
Most meetings remain on the fourth Thursday as usual, but
not all— please check the Next
Meeting button above to be sure when and where
we're meeting.

PATRIOTS!
Please watch
the following video which explains the differences in
government styles. Republicans (and Democrats!) should all understand
the vast differences between being a Democracy and a
Republic.
Which are we in America (think about the words in
the Pledge of Allegiance)?
Can you explain the difference to someone
before watching this? ...be sure you can afterward.
